“No one knows if it is a blessing or a curse. No one is wise enough to know. Only God knows.” – From a Chinese fable

Dear Reader,

I recently came across this Chinese fable of the Old Man and his Horse. This made me realize that often our perspective on events in our life might be totally wrong!

When something happen we are quick to define it as positive or negative.

For example, you lost your job. Most of us will clasify this as negative. But what if youy discover a talent you never had and become a successful blogger, affiliate marketer, social media influencer or an enterepeur. Something that would not have happened if you stayed in your current job.

Or on the other side of the coin: You met this awesome guy, gentle and considerate. Your perfect soulmate! Definitely a positive, wouldn’t you say? But what if you are engaged to be married, and a few day before the wedding he dies from a genetic heart disease you never knew he had?

The way we perceive events in our lives, are always influenced by our emotions. This is why we can have a perfectly happy day. And then something we perceive as negative happens – instantly changing our mood to dread, fear, anger, sorrow…

Maybe it is time to take our emotions out of the equation. To simply look at events as it is. Without judgement or attaching emotional value to it. Because we never know what can come out of any given situation.

Paul said it well in Romans 8:28: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good….”

I think it is a matter of faith. Knowing that whatever happens, God is there. He is right by your side and He will carry you through.

So dear reader: In future when something happens in your life – good or bad. Take a step back and see it as just an event. Put your trust in God and remember He will work it out for good.

Thanks for reading,

Susan
