And the Lord said to Moses, “Is the Lord ’s hand shortened? Now you shall see whether my word will come true for you or not. – Num.11.23 ESV

Dear Reader,

God saved Israel from slavery in Egypt and led them into the desert, to remain there for 40 years!

During this time He was with them. During the day as a cloud, over the tabernacle, and at night it had the appearance of fire.

When the cloud lifted, the Israelites packed up and follow. When the cloud settled over the tabernacle again, they made camp again.

Many times they travelled for days, sometimes only for one day. Or they might make camp for days, or just one night.

What is happening here?

God was busy training them in faith and obedience. And just like working out in the gym, we get stronger through repetition.

Just like the Israelites then, we live in uncertain times. We can’t predict the duration of the pandemic, or what will happen with the economy.

Or closer to home: Will you or a loved one get the virus, lose a loved one, or be without an income?

We like to know what the future holds, and to feel like we are in control. But God doesn’t work that way. With every trial or tribulation, winter or desert season, he is exercising our muscles. Muscles of faith and obedience.

Often we get tired and frustrated, and them we start to complain. But we need to be careful not to anger God like the Israelites did when they wished for all the meat they had in Egypt.

God said to Moses; “I will give them so much meat that they will get sick of it. (I encourage you to read this whole passage in Number 11:10-20)

And the Lord said to Moses, “Is the Lord ’s hand shortened? Now you shall see whether my word will come true for you or not. – Num.11.23 ESV

I think we often find us in this very same position. Where we doubt if God can do what He have promised.

But through faith and obedience, we must make sure that God provides not in anger, but in love!

From now on commit to exercise your faith muscles everyday, walk in obedience and know that God will and can do what he has promised!

Thanks for reading,

Susan
